En un tuit en el que respondía a su colega entusiasta de bitcoin y CEO de MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor, el multimillonario mexicano escribió en inglés: "Yo y mi banco (Banco Azteca) estamos trabajando para ser el primer banco en México en aceptar #Bitcoin".

Saylor comentaba un vídeo en el que aparecía Salinas y que fue compartido en Twitter por el conocido inversor y defensor de bitcoin Anthony Pompliano.
En el video, Salinas explicó cómo su experiencia con la hiperinflación influyó en su razonamiento para invertir en bitcoin y por qué piensa que "el fiat es un fraude". También explica por qué preferiría la criptomoneda antes que cualquier otro activo.
