ApeChain joins Humanity Protocol's zkProofer network to bolster digital identity

ApeChain, the blockchain network undergirding ApeCoin, has joined the zkProofer network within the decentralized identity platform Humanity Protocol.

Humanity Protocol's zkProofer network can verify that an online individual is a real person without exposing private information. By joining Humanity Protocol's zkProofer network, ApeChain can ensure its users are human within governance, gaming or other ecosystem applications while reducing risks to personal data.

"When bots or bad guys manipulate votes, it's just that much harder for real community members to be heard. ApeChain is stepping up and making governance more fair and transparent without compromising user privacy," Humanity Protocol Founder and CEO Terence Kwok told The Block in an email. "With Proof of Humanity, every vote comes from a verified unique person, ensuring the ApeCoin ecosystem remains strong and community-driven."

Humanity Protocol scans a person's hand to link their humanity to their digital identity. The process is the same for an ApeChain user, Kwok tells The Block, which eliminates the need for traditional verification.

"In the case of ApeChain, that means better security in governance, fair participation and a wholesome community in general," Kwok said.

ApeChain is a Layer 3 blockchain built on Arbitrum . The blockchain is incubated by Yuga Labs, the parent firm behind the popular NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ). ApeChain undergirds not only ApeCoin ( APE ) but the web3 game Dookey Dash , which pulls from BAYC intellectual property.

On Jan. 28, Humanity Protocol raised $20 million in funding led by Pantera Capital and Jump Crypto, The Block previously reported. The firm netted a $1 billion valuation in May 2024.
