Lagrange to divert 75% of Matter Labs' outsourced proofs, bolstering decentralization

The decentralized ZK prover network Lagrange partnered with Matter Labs, the firm behind ZKsync, to further decentralize the ZK Stack's proof generation.

Through the partnership, Matter Labs will divert 75% of its outsourced proof demand to the Lagrange Prover Network by 2027, according to a release shared with The Block, adding that Lagrange had already incorporated a decentralized version of ZKsync's ZK Stack prover in January.

This decentralization will also reduce gas fees and operational costs, in addition to increasing throughput.

"ZK rollups offer unmatched scalability, security and cost efficiency, making them the inevitable choice for next-generation decentralized applications," said Lagrange Co-Founder and CEO Ismael Hishon-Rezaizadeh in a statement. "With this partnership, ZKsync is leading the charge, and the Elastic Network will operate at an unprecedented scale without compromising on decentralization.”

ZKsync is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling protocol deploying zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-rollup) technology to increase network throughput while mitigating transaction costs. The platform's ZK Stack is a modular framework enabling developers to more easily customize and launch a blockchain undergirded with zero knowledge technology.

The Elastic Network is the ZKsync network of interoperable Layer 2 blockchains called ZK Chains, which is undergirded by the ZK Stack.
